Spamalot, for a purely great theatrical experience! Eric Idle is a comedy legend!!!

However, for a good, old-fashioned romp I'd have to say Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alan Ayckbourn's By Jeeves. Although a critical and commercial flop, the duo successfully recreate the eccentric Woodhousean feel in the lovely comedic and touching musical that is fantastically under-rated! Watch the DVD and be amazed!

I'm quite frankly sick of depressing OTT dramatic musicals such as Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Phantom, Wicked. Bring back the gaiety of yester-year's musical comedies. The Producers, Spamalot, Avenue Q etc. aren't hits for no reason!!!

I have two favourite musicals, and both are very different!

Blood Brothers - really good and powerful story, a real heartbreaker so take plenty of tissues. I have seen it 14 times now, and towards the end you can hear a pin drop in the theatre, I can hear my heart starting to pound, and the ending ALWAYS has me weeping. This musical gets a standing ovation at every performance.

Les Miserables is wonderful. Fantastic spine tingling music, and again a really good story. The scene where the barricade comes together is magic. It also has its humerous side, which offsets the high drama of the story.

Avenue Q is pretty good and a bit different

Blood Brothers is probably the musical that impressed me the most as it seems based in a truer reality and has a genuine storyline that really moves you at the end. It also doesn't rely on thousands of pounds worth of set to detract from the fact that a lot of musicals concentrate on glitz and glamour rather than a good story

For the music, West Side Story. For being fun to be in, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

There are so many great musicals. It would have to be....

"The Phantom Of The Opera"

Followed closely by "Guys & Dolls"

The thing with musicals though. The film versions can be pretty good, but you have to see them live on stage really. Watching the Phantom as a living breathing figure is a true experience. !!

Les Miserables is top class. To me it puts everything else in the shade. This said, I love Blood Brothers and Miss Siagon. The music to all three is powerful and emotive. Brilliant
Whats all this about Grease? My God, get a life
