A few good ones that I have seen, are mystery, masquerade, luau, celebrity. The celebrity party did a red carpet kind of a theme and prizes were given out for people who dressed up as there favorite actors and so forth.

Well, no you never said what kind of party it is but, I would go with something related..and depending on the age..I would do something simple for the younger kids like a color party..everyone dresses a certain color and brings snacks that start with the letter of the color they choose..if its for older kids I would do school past and present..and do activities games and such from different eras of school, and theres lots of things to expand on that and it wouldn't cost anything.

How about a ROARING 20's theme? That will definitely prove to be a big hit.

Pirates & Princesses - it's a little Disney, but an opportunity for some cool designs, as well as dressing up.
