You can burn your grass even worse if you water in the middle of the day. The best time is very early in the morning, give it a good soaking not just wett it down. You don't have to water it every day if you really soak it good. In fact its better if you dont. Soaking it allows the soil deep down to get moist. that encourages root growth as the grass tries to reach this moisture. the new roots keep the grass healthy and more drought resistant.

There are several things that you must do to save your lawn from the hot summer sun. First of all, determine how much water your particular lawn needs. If you know what kind of grass you have, a quick call to the Master Gardener office will provide you with some water guidelines.
Second, determine how much water you are actually providing your lawn. Setting out tuna or cat food cans at various places on the lawn will give you a good idea of how much water is getting to the grass and if it is evenly distributed.
Third, a little water every day is not nearly as effective as a good deep watering two to three days each week. The water must be applied in such a manner that it penetrates several inches into the soil. The root system of your lawn will then be encouraged to go deep for a drink, making your lawn much more resistant to the heat of our summer sun.

Some lawns have gravel under the grass,if this is your case, its very hard to keep the grass green as the water goes right thru.I usually test this theory with a long screwdriver after you've watered, see if the screwdriver will go into the soil easily,if it only goes in a few inches you probably have rocky or gravel type ground. If that's not the cause make sure you water after the sun goes down, and also put some good Scott's fertilizer on at least three times a year.Good luck.

The most important thing you can do for a lawn in a hot climate is to mow your lawn higher than usual. Most people mow their lawns far to short (scalping). This exposes the roots to sunburn and removes all the leaf matter that protects the roots from sun.
If you mow your lawn higher you also encourage deeper root growth (the lawn has enough leaf to feed the roots). Don't water everyday if you can help it encourages shallow roots (more leaf stress). Water deeply only when the lawn needs it (check soil for moisture level before watering).
Don't overfertilize to try to green up the lawn, this can also burn your lawn.
The best lawn I ever grew was a kikuyu lawn, only given water when required, fertilized once in spring, but mown quite high. Everyone wanted to know my secret, they wouldn't believe me when I told them. Hope this helps I'm in inland Australia so I experience very hot sun conditions.

Lawns are more of an English thing (where they originated) because the whether is entirely more appropriate for such. They get more rain. In North America we get more sun, therefore more heat. Naturally, it is not recommended to water your lawn during the day (too hot, evaporates too quickly, does more damage than good). You should water your lawn only in early evening.

i'd ask for a supervisor . would desire to they possible be utilising gray water I had some one record me here in Utah whilst i replaced into utilising the water from my showers and Landry i'd basically have water circulate on the grass and it would be so green the acquaintances have been mad because of the fact all of them had brown lawns and mine replaced into green as would desire to be utilising reclaimed water . Its fairly ordinary to do one among 2 procedures you have got a storage tank that holds each and every of the gray water in the raining and robust wet season's and use it to sprinkle the backyard. a splash severe priced.approximately 10 thousand to place it in. Or a simplistic technique is to easily use a flat pool homestead connect with the top of your washer outlet and circulate around on backyard to flora. I have been given extra difficult with my equipment this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days approximately 40 dollars nicely worth of percenthooking up the bathe and the washer to fairly percentpipes which watered my front and decrease back backyard. The flora basically love the cleansing soap and it retains the undesirable bugs down. I under no circumstances had to circulate out and bodily water my backyard different than one tiny section the water did no longer attain. My backyard replaced into green whilst the acquaintances discovered how out they did it too . I used to stay in drought ridden California so all of us understand the thank you to guard. additionally you could put in underground drip lines so it waters basically the flora and not the weeds peculates basically the place you pick it watered. wish this solutions your question. Got to agree with Robert on this one early evening is better than the morning as the grass has time to absorb the water over night and a good soaking every night till it greens up then I would water it every couple of days or so again a good soaking in early evening ........Good Luck

I knew a guy who put concrete over all his grass in his entire yard. Then, he painted it green. You could do that.
Good luck.
