why do some people not think that humans are responsible for increasing global warming

Because methane gas is a huge contributor to global warming, and one of the largest producers of methane is cow dung.
So, stop global warming, eat a hamburger. Vegetarians and PETA are responsible for an increase in greenhouse gasses. Do
not support their efforts to increase global warming !

There have been tremendous changes in climate and overall average temperature in the past - even prior to the existence of humans on the planet (so those particular instances could not possibly be attributed to human activity). In the geological times, the amount of times that the human species has existed is miniscule - the amount of time we've been an industrial society is insignificant. The argument against humanity being responsible is "we weren't last time why are we this time?"
I don't believe it's a sound argument because the evidence for humanity at least providing significant contribution to (if not the cause of) global warming is growing. We have a choice on whether we act. If we are responsible and we act, we have a chance to make a difference. If we are not responsible then our efforts will have no effect - but there is nothing we could have done about it anyway. Surely this means the only responsible course of action is the former since at least we have some hope of saving ourselves - if we do nothing then we'll never know.

Because they realize that such global warmings have occurred in the past, when humans weren't even present, and because humanity has an overblown feeling of superiority and importance which is totally out of place.

even though there is some evidence that we are causing it, the earth might internally or externally be changing due to aging or something. Other than that I really don't know.
