why do betty and her sister hilda have completely different accents???

They have different accents because Betty went to school and works in Manhattan. You can't sound like you are from Queens in Manhattan! Hilda has to have the Queens accent because she works in Queens and has really never left Queens to do anything.



Also--I don't think they have different mothers. Besides, who your mother is has nothing to do with your accent. Hilda sounds like she was from Queens because, well, she is from Queens!

Betty went to college but Hilda don't that why the accents diff between sister.

Either it was poor casting or Hilda didn't learn any proper english like Betty did when she went to college.

Well maybe its because hilda is older and has been around in the spanish areas longer or maybe they are just DIFFERENT!!!

m'kay i love this show.

Oh and Jay, different mothers does not necessary mean that they will have different accents, it all depends on their environments. Genetics has nothing to do with it!
