how to get in advertising agencies?

i want to know how to get job in advertising agencies as graphics
designer. i am 7 years experience in graphics designing and know
the following software corel, photoshop, pagemaker, quarkexpress,
illustrator

One way that alot of people get into a major agency is by starting small. There are countless smaller ad and marketing agencies and firms that are constantly looking to hire new graphic designers, web designers, etc. If you have some graphic design talent, you can probably land a job at one of those places. You will work on local and regional campaigns, and sometimes the larger firms hire the smaller ones to complete specific portions of an overall campaign. While you're there, you can use the work to enhance your portfolio and your experience, and then start applying to the bigger firms. Having prior experience in the industry does wonders for your attractiveness as a candidate.

Most importantly, always keep working on your portfolio. Build up your skills and show a diverse range of styles.

You need to have an incredible book... With your past web site designs, press ads, graphic charts etc you could convince some... Just send copies of your book together with your CV to all the agencies you would like to work with... You'll receive lot of negative answers, never give up... This is a real hard sector to get in... I know... I'm in now!!
