Bush was also right when he talked about "the soft bigotry of low expectations."

A lot of people (mainly Liberals) don't have any faith in Middle Eastern people to rule themselves democratically. Liberals think they need a strongman dictator just to keep them in line. Bush thinks differently. He has faith that they have the intelligence to overcome their internal differences and live peaceably.

One other thing to consider: democracies do not war against one another. There has never been any serious conflict between two democracies. That's the recipe for peace.

To an extent yes. The west and much of Europe has ignored for a long time the dictators that have been ruling with absolute authority and giving no freedoms to the people.

Yes. However, stability manipulation of the West does go back further than 60 years.

Was it excusing & accomodating the lack of freedom in the Mideast or was it making sure that Israel/Holy land was always as safe as possible & never taken over by the Arabs/Muslims?
