A big payroll does not equal a good pitching staff. The Cubs will score some runs this year, but they will give up a lot. History has shown us - the Cubs are not meant to be in the World Series.

no, and they will not even contend for the playoffs, for a couple of reasons...first the fact that the yankees have not been to a world series in a while proves that superstars do not win championships, teams and chemistry do(i'm a yankee fan saying this)...second anyone saying that they are capable of making a world series is overrating everyone on their team, they do not have the pitching or guys who can get on base for their sluggers...finally, they are the CUBS!!! do you know how many people have asked if the cubs are going to the world series??? and i've put this in every single answer i've given, they can't win because they're the CUBS

Team chemistry wins championships, not payroll (aka the yankees--who, btw, have NOT won a world series in the 21st century).
If all the players gel together, then they have a good chance.
I also think that with Pinella at the helm he will get everything out o fhis players, and they will produce.
History shows us that The Cubs are the #1 baseball team in Chicago and that their southside crybaby neighbors (the whinny sux) are always crying.

no, the Cubs will not go to the World Series because of the fact that they havent won it for almost 100 years, the Cubs could be considered the worst team in baseball, they most likely will all get hurt and be even worse. thank you for your time

Having a big payroll is no garuntee of making the World Series. They've done a great job bolstering their lineup but i'm not too sold on their pitching staff. Zambrano's a monster but they need Prior healthy because I don't see Ted Lilly as a number 2.

It's interesting, they have good hitters,Soriano,Lee,Ramirez,Jones.
But they do lack a true CF.
It all comes down to the pitching, Zambrano=good.
But if Wood, Prior, and Meche can perform ooh-wi, they are dangerous.
If the pitching staff is healthy.Yes
If it is not, then NO.
