Epidural options...?

Question

I am allergic to the epidural because it contains lidocaine. I am allergic to any drug from the "caine" family, so anything else from that family I can't have either. I went through my other 2 without anything, but this time, I really want something, laughing gas and demerol just didn't cut it. I have heard of fentanol and somebody metioned spinal morphine. Has anyone out there had a spinal with an alternative, or have any info about the 2 I mentioned?

if i were you i wouldn't mess with the fetanol it is very addictive and the side effects feel like morning sickness that just doesn't go away!morphine may help though!ask your dr. about the risks of both and decide if it will be better than going through one more painful labor!by the way you have my sympathy for the first two deliveries i couldn't do it personallly!good luck and congrats on your soon to be newborn!

Instead of going through all that trouble, just have the baby naturally again. Ive done it 3 times and am due again in March. Just think, its over with quickly. My best friend had nothing but horror stories about her epidural (She had her first 2 without anything) . She said even though its painful, its better to have the baby without drugs and to just get it over with. I know you want to find some sort of alternative, but just try it again without or google "alternative pain killers for childbirth" to see what else is out there.

Being a doctor my self and to be honest........ Please go and consult a qualified anesthesiologist before some quake starts sharing his nonsense with you which actually may prove to be more harmful than useful

Try having it completely natural like God intended. Women do it everyday. I have 4 and had them all naturally, no meds. The babies are more alert when born instead of sleepy. Talk to your doctor about it. Good luck and congrats!!
