For centuries it seems, our western culture, (USA), treates womens' nipples like some safely guarded secret. In European countries, they allow women to be topless at the beach, and many of those countries, have been allowing it, since their existence! Now, I know all European don't do that, but many do. Our country, USA, is so prude, especially where women's nipples are concerned. What's up with that, and what can we do to change that attitude?

I think it all comes down to the curiosity of the unknown and unfamiliar. In Ontario there was a big "equality" debate with women not being able to walk around topless but men could.... so the law was changed.... 1998 I believe... and for a while a few women paraded around topless here and there but the novelty wore off and I don't think anyone really cares anymore that it's legal for women to walk around downtown Toronto with their shirts off.

Is a double moral issue that is very common in USA. for example:
USA is the country in the world with the richest Pornography industry, but at the same time is one in very few countries in the world where prostitution is illegal and not tolerated.

You are right, but I don't know how to change it. It is a man problem. They get all weird about breasts. American men, that is. I mean, a guy sees a woman nursing her infant and gets all weird /embarrassed/turned on. When American men get over their booby complex, it will change.

As a woman, I really have no desire to run around with my **** hanging out and I doubt many women really do either. If you think we are prudish, then buy a plane ticket.
