My two month old has this thing where she'll sit herself up when I have her against my shoulder, trying to look around, but when her neck seemingly gets tired, instead of just resting her head against my shoulder again, she'll fling it forward against me. It doesn't seem to hurt her, but it seems so odd! Is it just because she's not in total control of her neck muscles yet?

This is very normal and you need not worry about it.

I always just try to make sure I keep my own head out of the way by titling it off to the side, to offer a softer landing on the neck.

One time I was trying to watch my little one while she was looking around and when she came down, she came down on my chin, which made me realize I need to give her space to look around when she is on my shoulder.

lol, yes she is is learning how to control her muscles, she is also learning action/reaction to see what happens when she does this. Be prepared, with my son that went away at about 4 months and came back at about a year and a half because he thinks its funny, maybe that part is just a guy thing lol, i am sure she will outgrow it soon, she (and you) will know if she is hurting herself, get ready for lots of silly and odd habits to appear, it's so much fun!

Ask your pediatrician for a referral to a developmental pediatrician. this must be common prepare by now, yet for some reason$$$ it no longer. maximum wide-spread pediatricians particularly studied about autism, because it became uncommon until eventually lately. no longer less than it ought to grant you with peace of thoughts. What mom couldn't use that?

You are right, she doesn't have good control over those muscles ye t. Try to help your baby with her neck more so that she won't do it so much.

It could be that, but I always found that my two kids did that when they were hungry. Lol, I called it "bobbing for booby" I know, not cute, but I thought it was funny at the time. If she isn't hungry, try giving her a soother as she may just want to suck. Good Luck

yes that is exactly what it is. She has no control so it will do what it wants to do. Both my girls did the same exact thing! I was worried that they would hurt themselves, but after some time they gained control. Congrats to you and good luck with baby!!
