Don't buy convicts for a 10 gallon, they need at least a 30 gallon.

For a 10 gallon, you could get guppies, platies, or endler's livebearers. They are all livebearing fish and will have lots and lots of fry. You should get a ratio of one male to two females (if you have more males, they will harass the females to the point of sickness or even death). For a 10 gallon, three is all I would get to start out with--you will soon have many more. Be sure to have a plan for what to do with all the babies.

Any fish will breed in a 10 gal tank as long as the fish are not to large for the tank. It is unknown how many babies they will have.
Some fish are live bearers and some are egg layers. So it all depends on how many live babies or eggs survive.

if you want a good fish to breed try Convicts. For any other information. Go to your local pet store or do some research.
