you need to clean all tempfiles cookies etc. Do that under your maintenance program. Sart ,Controlpanel,performance ,maintenance
Then defrag the computer too . Go under your account settings online and change the password there for you

Restore points only, ONLY, restore those files used for the operating system, i.e. register, system settings , etc. It does not restore any data files. It might restore some passwords, that I do not know.

And easier way might be to search for files created newer than the date when he started using the computer. Do Not delete them all based upon this criteria because the operating system creates and deletes files every time the computer is used and are necessary for continued use of the computer. But the listing of newer files will give you a starting point.

if you are using windows xp go to start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore and choose a day before 6 months ago when you friend start using computer. But make sure you dont have data that you had created between that time, because it will all be lost.
