It all depends on the animal. If they are very friendly they will get adopted more likely then not. Then again it all depends on the shelter too and whether or not they get too many animals in. You can try finding a no kill animal rescue. Do NOT put your pet up as a "free" animal. If you want to find a new home for you rpet yourself make sure to ask for a small adoption fee. Specially if your pet in vaccinated.

Most pounds try to keep the animal as long as they can before euthanizing.They have a 60% chance of adoption.Still better than to drop the animal out in country to fend for itself.Many pets are put to sleep but there are pounds now that do not do it anymore.
YES, I CARE. EVERYONE SHOULD GET THERE PETS SPAYED OR NUTTERED!!!

There is a really high chance your dog will die if you take him to the pound because hardly anybody gets pets there unless they have lost one. Try putting an ad in your local newspaper for a free dog. That usually gets good offers!
