What was the fashion in 1960 in America? How different was it to English fashion of the same time/
I am from the UK and am having a wedding based on the Dirty dancing movie and 1963! If you can help by telling me what was fashionable in america @ this time!

If you watch the movie (Dirty Dancing) you can go by the styles that are pictured there.
Also google images of fashion 1963 and you come up with some cool sites like the one below. Looks like hats were popular! This link has covers of Ladies Home Journal and Simplicity sewing patterns from that time period, including Australian magazines, and I think British too.

Allright, 1963 was pre-Beatles and Stones, so, the tie dye and bell bottoms are the later part of the '60's. This is early '60's so think Jackie Kennedy, the pillbox hats, elegant little dresses, that type of thing for the ladies. Beehive hairdos, flips, along those lines.

Hippie clothing, tie-die, drean locks, colerd round glasses, disco clothing, beaded hair, t-shirts with words, that kind of stuff. Like peace signs, meditation, the Olm sign..... think of that period. Or you could always google it!!
