there will be fewer and fewer customers going to that place to purchase that service/item until..

No customers?-> No money-> no jobs/Company

customer satisfaction HAS to be the cornerstone of every business, You can't survive in the business world with out it. A happy customer keeps coming back, and they bring their Friends, a PO'd customer will never set foot in your establishment again, and they too make a special point of telling all their freinds and even strangers who will listen.
