percent = 100 * ( actual - allowance ) / allowance
= 100 * 82 / 300

Consider 300g as reference value.

Difference = 82 g

% over = 82/300 x 100%

= 82/3% = 27 (2/3)% = 27.7%

At breakfast, go ahead and take in orange juice. But throughout other day, focus on water instead of juice or soda

Take the difference between the two figures & [on a calculator] divide it by the smaller one & then press the % key.

382 - 300 = 82 divided by 300 = 27.33 %

So you are taking 127.33% of your daily allowance.

Everyone who answered this has the right answer, however your question was not properly worded.

As mradigan7.. came up with 127.333 %
and others came up with 27.333 %

Both answers answer a different interpretation of your question.

How much above (or below) rda is the actual amount = 27.333%

How much was the actual amount relative to rda = 127.333%

Since you specified difference, then 27.333% is the answer you want.

We often see "Our product has 100% rda of vitamin C"
yet we never see
"Our product has 0% more than the rda of vitamin C"

Likewise if a vitamin has a higher or lower dose than rda, it is usually specified as 125% or 90% rda rather than 25% or minus 10%.

I hope this furthers your understanding of percentages and of your task.

Distracted dining will get you in trouble. Avoid eating in front of a television or in a movie theatre, as you're bound to ingest more calories.

Are your dishes too big? A healthy dinner should fit with a 9-inch plate. You may discover that kid-sized plates are more appropriately sized to feed an adult!
