stupid? I'm sure there are some good gourmet dishes but I'm speaking general here. You take a small piece of fish or meat, drizzle afew strange colored sauces over it, top it with a leaf or 2 and charge 30.00 a plate! Who in there right mind would want that meal over a nice steak, chicken or Italian meal? I've observed from my brother-in-law that at least for him, it is a statice thing, it shows his peers he has "good taste" and is from the upper crust. I think that's stupid.

I agree completely with you. It's almost like "Yipee! I get to eat LESS food that tastes WORSE and pay 5 times the money for it!"

Gourmet cooking is not stupid, but the lengths some places go to with the presentation does border of the ridiculous

I went to a wedding where the food was like that and people were at the table talking about where they were going to stop on the way home ie. Taco Bell. It was hilarious. When I go out I want to EAT!! And I don't care about the presentation either!!

I'll take some good meatloaf over gourmet "food"
I will try it though. I found out that small whole octopus tastes like rotten fish and is as chewy as rubber.

I agree... and small is an understatement. I went to a snooty holiday dinner once and all of us had to have real food about an hour later. Give me steak anytime! ♥

yes, and 3 sprigs of Asparagus with a small piece of Filet Mignon that would fit on a silver dollar. get real. like they get full with that. touching the napkin to the sides of thewir mouths. BRING ON THE REAL FOOD!!!!!

absolutely! the funniest thing is, those people who order the gourmet food b/c they think it's the cool thing to do, are the same people who chew with their mouths open. so much for cool.

yeah it's so true. it's just like any other thing you do just to show what "good taste" you have. this kind of behaviour also include naming your kids with "exotic names" or paying ridiculous amounts of money for brand clothes
