John Lennon had tremendous influence worldwide.
Imagine is my favorite song. It can still reduce me to tears even though I have heard it thousands of times over the years.

It is more moving than any prayer I have ever recited. While asking people to imagine a world without countries or religion, he has created a work which can melt divisions between people. It is magic, pure and simple.

i'm not so sure people are really reading your question correctly. i guess the person who has had the most influence on my generation may very well be Marilyn Manson. Not exactly a good influence, but hey, influences are influences.

The one that comes to mind for me is OPRAH WINFREY.
She has done great things in her lifetime. She came from way less than perfect circumstances and turned that life into something beyond all imagination. She is such a positive role model in society and her show is sometimes just so fun to watch, along with learning from her wisdom and her passions that she uses to help people and contribute to making the world a better place. Good for her...she's amazing. I have a lot of respect for this woman.

The people around me influence me everyday. I see the mistakes they made along with what rewards they recieve. I learn from them and I wouldn't be me without them.

I agree with Stephen in saying John Lennon. He taught us to imagine, to feel the potential of mankind in its quest to experience true brotherhood and oneness. He sensed the incoming aquarian energies and expressed them in beautiful harmony.

For me, it is Mother Teresa. To me, she symbolises charity in the face of commercialism and what I admire most is that despite that she is a nun, she respected other religions and, to what I understand, did not try to force those whom she helped to convert.
