The HR policies and practices in Filipino corporations are atrocious. 99% of job openings specifically require either an age range or be gender specific--in addition to actual experience and skill sets. Some require only graduates from a specific school. Worse yet, they go further by sometimes requiring "a pleasant personality" or downright ask for "attractiveness". When I go to a job fair in the Philippines and talk to hiring managers, these corporate practices often reminds me of a job convention for hookers and not one for professionals.

These habits are carryovers from Spanish culture.

Its a matter of attitude. Young people (18-25) usually have a better outlook and attitude. They are more easily trained (or brainwashed). They have more energy and present a more positive attitude. As one gets older, one develops a sense of bitterness and distrust towards other people and a sour outlook on life in general, based on their respective failures and disappointments. Nobody wants to hear about all that s h i t from their employees so, since there are so many to pick from, the 18-25 year old is the desired target range. Works about the same way when looking for a wife too.

unfortunately, that is so true! employers know younger people are gullible to the point of stupidity and will do anything. so management of most companies hire them young and string them along to maintain its status quo. besides, younger workers are healthier and prettier to look at than older ones. such is life in our little island nation...

when i hire someone I want them to do it my way. ( I don't care how they did it before this is my money that I'm paying them) Its easier to train young people then it is to try to train someone who has been working for 20 years.Old habits are hard to break.
