He gauranteed a victory over Britain and enough supplies to maintain their troops at Stalingrad, in both cases, it showed his pompous attitude was not enough to assure victory in either case.

No. He had only the crudest idea of how to plan and run a campaign. Plus, he tended to rely on his old cronies, old 'seat of the pants' type flyers, which tended to blind him to technological developments.
