Any tips on getting a friend?

I tried talking to new people but they already think I am a stranger. I am always failing to find friendship with people. I tried talking to new poeple but they only answer because they are being nice, not looking for a friendship. I seriously need help finding friends.

All I can say is just to be yourself. Someone there will end up thinking about talking to you. Don't change cuz if you do get friends and THEN act like yourself you may lose them.

I had this problem up until 6th grade, but you actually have it better than I did. In addition to my inability to make friends, I was extremely shy, so I couldn't even talk to people. My main suggestion, besides the cliche join tons of activities, is to try to be on the lookout for other people who don't have friends. Trust me when I say that I know sometimes it may seem impossible. Depending on your situation, it may really be impossible. If you absolutely cannot find anybody that doesn't have any friends, pick someone (or a couple of people) that you want to be friends with and find some way to get their instant messaging screenname or something (facebook is great for this if you're in high school). This way you can talk to them one-on-one and get to know them and they can get to know you without the pressure of trying to talk to somebody new in the presence of all their friends.

Finding friends isn't like dating. You can't approach someone for five minutes and expect them to want to talk to you again.

The best way to find friends is through an activity, be it work, school or a club. Find stuff in common with people and talk to them over a period of time. Eventually, you will make friends.
