Invading and occupying Iraq has made us less safe. We have over 100,000 troops over there, who are getting burned out by multiple rotations, not to mention the fatalities and permanently maimed. These guys are meant to defend our country, not go on some venture based on corporate greed. Our reservists were never intended to be used as alternative to the draft so that we could take over another sovereign nation. Iraq did not have a terrorist problem before we showed up and they were not a threat to us, yet we have caused the death of at least 100,000 of their civilians. Many people here rationalize it with this "war on terror," yet Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Congress has never officially declared war on Iraq, so we cannnot say this is a war. In a cowardly way, they just let Bush do whatever he wanted with an open-ended license to take any military action he deemed appropriate, something quite dangerous to allow someone over a bunch of greedy necon exteremists to have.

No... The Iraqi war has plunged the US into debt, and done possibly irreparable damage to the US economy. A struggling economy is far more dangerous to the US people than the Iraqis have ever been. Think of the lives that could be saved right here at home if the trillions of dollars spent on the war were put into health care and education! We could be world class, but instead we're flexing our muscles and pissing in the wind.

In the words of the intelligence services of the British Government, "America has made Iraq the recruiting seargent for world wide terrorism."
Bush's Iraqi war policies have weakend this country and made it more vulnerable to attack. Bush didn't go after Osama. Why not?
As for the simple minded comment that America is safer because it hasn't been attacked recently reminds me of the guy who jumps off the roof of a skyscraper and on the way to his death tells himself, so far- so good.

you're making 2 assumptions: First, that pre-emptive war became into related to something approximately aggression or peace, and 2nd, that there ever became into this variety of element as peace. the international has something like 4 wars happening for all time. in many circumstances fought with weapons that are offered via an identical countries that proclaim their righteousness as 'peacemakers'. that's in many circumstances concerning to the money. the greater valuable question could be "How does preemptive war influence globalized economics." or perhaps, "Does globalization inspire peace or war common?"

I do not think so Caz no weapons of mass destruction were found there which was the key point for invading Iraq. Instead of eliminating we have produced more terrorist as many studies say. I think we should adopt political means and avoid military action which has spread hatred against us.

Kind of, now if "terrorists" want to kill a bunch of Americans all they have to do is go to Iraq. Maybe for the moment it has, but now all the children in Iraq who's family has died are going to grow up to hate us. Unfortunately there is no easy solution.

I think it has. We have seen multiple times where the Islamo fascist have no respect for diplomacy. They want to kill us. By showing strength they fear us, buy helping to free moderates in Iraq we strengthen them so they can help resist Islamo fascism.
