These bands all fall into a pretty similar category. You should try to branch out a little with new music. Try the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, the Raveonettes, Peaches, the White Stripes, the Downbeat 5. These vary from being a little more artsy to a little more raw.

We Are Scientists - very very important band.
The Fratelli's - They don't come much better than these guys right now.
Franz Ferdinand - awesomeness on a stick.
Fall Out Boy - new album is immense.
The View - scottishness
most of these are british bands, they are all awesome. hope it helps

Porcupine Tree is a fantastic progressive rock band! We discovered them recently listening to Paradise Radio. They are on tour soon here in the UK and we are going to see them - I can't wait!
