For libs the pride comes from the doing, doing anything to get their way.
Usually they can't agree on how to do what they want to do.
They end up not doing it or doing it very poorly.

I think the respectful question deserves a respectful answer. Keep in mind the GOP doesn't currently like the path the Iraq is on either. There isn't a best solution for the dilemma. I am not even going to blame the president. I am going to blame this on the fact that he acted the best he could do with the BAD information that he received when this war happened. Now the problem comes in on what exactly to do. Was Saddam a nice guy--Hell no! The new government will probably be worse in the long run whenever the get their own government instead of this interim government. You can't just pull out because we would have cause a train wreck, not that it hasn't been that already, just worse. There has to be a complete exit plan and strategy and I don't think we have one. Whether or not it is a Democrat V GOP issue, it is now an American Government issue. Until people stop playing the GOP/ Dems line they will accomplish nothing. This is NOT a time for ego trips for either side but rather our own government needs to lay down their own arms in Washington and begin their own peace accord before they can work on peace in an area that the US is not well admired to begin with.- Hope this helps. God Bless

There is no pride in surrendering and I do not believe that pulling out of Iraq would be surrender. We have established a democratic government in Iraq. We captured and tried Saddam Hussein for his crimes. I believe that was the stated mission: Operation Free Iraq. Well, now it is time for the Iraqi government to step up and take charge. We can still train the military forces, but we should not be on the front lines defending the citizens. If the Iraqi military wants to surrender without putting up a fight, then that is their decision, but we should not be their fighting a fight that they do not want anyway.
BTW, when America wanted its independence it fought for it. We did ask the French for help and they obliged only after we proved to them that our revolution was worth fighting for. After the British surrendered, the French got back on their boats and said "Don't call us, we'll call you." We had to set up our own government, military, and infrastructure. When we had a civil war some 70 years later, no foreign country got involved. They let us fight it out until one side won. So, if the rest of the world stood by and watched us do it, why is it so wrong to let the Iraqi people go through the same thing?

Often times people gain pride when they are honest, and admit they made a mistake. Going into Iraq as we now know was a major mistake. Bring our kids home.
This country lost our pride after 9/11. Which had nothing to do with Iraq. If we went anywhere, it should have been Saudi Arabia.
But of course we now know how close the Bush family and the Saudi royals are. Where is the pride in that?

the united states cannot impose our vision of a democracy on a nation that doesn't want it!!!
If Iraq wants freedom and democracy fine but....the seed of democracy must be planted from within its citizens..... they need their own Washington's and Jefferson's!!!!!!
the U.S. patrolling a civil war in Iraq where terrorists are coming to Iraq and using our soldiers as target practice is anything but prideful!!!!

And here I was thinking the war was about national security and the like. I didn't realize it was about your pride.
Get over the ego - protect American troops by not putting them in this no-win damn war.
"Pride" - you got to be kidding.

I don't know about you, but I think that doing the right thing is generally more important than bolstering one's pride.

No pride in staying in the middle of a civil war, losing American lives.

It is Biblical..."Pride and a haughty disposition goeth before a fall."
Perhaps we do not need the "Pride" of which you speak.
