You cannot compare units of different measurable things. Cm is a unit of length and cm^3 is a unit of volume.
1 cube of edge=1 cm has a volume of 1 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm = 1cm^ 3.
1 cube of edge=10 cm has a volume of (10 cm)^3= 1000 cm^3

cm^3 is a volume like liters whereas cm is only a measure of length

so if you have a cube with sides of 4.2 cm3 then it would be

4.4 x 4.2 x 4.2

If you have a full question ask that but this is a little vague.

cm is a linear measure, cm^3 is a volume measure.

if you have a cube 4.2 cm on each side then the volume is
4.2 * 4.2 * 4.2 cm^3
