Hi Everyone!! :o)

Should DaimlerChrysler [Which owns Mercedes and Chrysler Group vehicles - just as GM owns Cadillac/Buick/Pontiac/Chevrolet vehicles, etc.] sell off the 'Chrysler Group' [Which includes Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep] or will a 'sale' be the death of the 'Chrysler Group'?

IF you think DaimlerChrysler [Also known as DCX] should sell the 'Chrysler Group' - WHO - do you think - would be the best 'new' owner?!

Thanks, Craig!! :o)

NO!!!! I do not think it should sell Chrysler. I once talked to a guy at the local Chrysler dealer about the history and heritage of Chrysler, and he said by the time that Daimler bought Chrysler in 1998,Chrysler was about to call it quits. I think it was the best thing to ever happen to Chrysler. I say this because I think "real" Chryslers (Chrysler Corporation Vehicles) were crummy. My parents owned a '89 Plymouth Grand Voyager that had to have 2 transmissions put in it, one was put in at around 19K in 1990,and at 164,000 Miles in 1999 Oil started leaking in to the starter. Then in '99 My dad bought a 1993 Dodge Ram Van which we hated because the horn always stuck, the doors would never close right, and water would leak through the back doors during a rainstorm. I also remember the dash lights, dome lights, and the radio from time to time would always short out. Everyone I talk to that owns or has owned a pre 1998 or even some made AFTER the merger say they hate chryslers.

I have own numerous chrysler products - I have NEVER had a problem with any of them. When they came out with the new products, such as the charger, crossfire, vipers, PT cruisers, what a relief. Chrysler, GM, and Ford all have had there problems. Look at GM they are in worse shape then Chrysler. They just cut 35,000 jobs. What does that say for the North American Automakers. Ford is in the same boat. No Daimler shouldn't sell Chrysler, in 2005 they were in the black, all of a sudden they are in the red, maybe try creative book keeping. Good PR don't you think.

Nothing wrong with Daimler buyng a sickly Chrysler (at a discount I'm sure) with the aim to turn around its quality and build synergies to lower cost. Initially, I don't think its gone well from a market perspective. One doesn't hear much about improved quality of Chryslers cars and you get told to stay away from some Merc models. And then came the Chrysler 300 bomb (shame that it will always be tainted as a plagarised Bently) that was a saving grace. The cross-fire I felt should have done better than it did. Blame it on bad naming. A kid could have picked that name.

I'd say stick with it. These things take time. Chrysler needs to build off its 300 boost and get some more sexy quality cars out there.

I don't think that Daimler will sell the Chrysler Group. GM can not afford them becaus they are in as bad shape as Chrysler. If anyone buys them it will be a private entity.

Freightliner Trucks and Thomas buses are very successful elements in DaimlerChrysler. Mitsubishi trucks and to a lesser extent Mitsubishi passenger vehicles are great products and probably more valuable in the global market. The only Dodge worth keeping is the Sprinter, which is basically a Mercedes Benz product Dodge slapped their name on. Let 'em die off.
