I had the pleasure to watch Prof. Chomsky in 2 debates. He was amazing because he answered with facts and gave the audience the location to the facts so we can research on our own(something he encourages...he spoke to a group of us after and stated "don't take what I say as fact...do the research yourself"). The opposition resorted solely on put downs kinda the way Fox anchors do to any intelligent guest with opposing viewpoints.

bgood_26 - Chomsky has debated Dershowitz. That was one of the debates I witnessed. Chomsky stuck to facts and Dershowitz could only answer with put downs. Maybe you should do some research like Chomsky suggest before falsifying an answer.

bgood_26 - Every fact that Chomsky stated in that debate he provided the reference for all in the audience to look up, research and validate(once again, something he always encourages). All Dershowitz did was call Chomsky names. He provided no proof or reference to anything he said.

thrilling suggestion! Noam Chomsky isn't the first left-wing wacko to be on the payroll of our enemies. a lengthy time period decrease back there turned right into a "journalist" named I. F. Stone whom many liberals took heavily. His columns shamelessly defended each communist dictatorship international wide, and not at all had some thing reliable to say about our own authorities. He appeared to adhere to the communist propaganda line completely, yet, for sure, in case you pointed this out you'd be accused of "pink baiting" or "McCarthyism" by the self-anointed elite. at the same time as the Soviet Union fell and KGB information (the Venona papers) were opened, wager who, between many human beings, became on the Soviet payroll? Yep--I. F. Stone. for a lengthy time period u.s.'s enemies have planted propagandists between us, understanding that there'll be some who're naive sufficient or ignorant sufficient to take them heavily. Noam Chomsky absolutely suits that scenario.

Why don't your read Chomsky's writings and critiques thereof, and decide for yourself?

Edit: I stand corrected, Charloosh. Seems like Chomsky did his usual Israel-bashing, altering truths to demonize Israel, while Dersh challenged him on actual history and the law. After the debate, Chomsky and his cronies wrote a series of articles attacking Dersh personally.

You may have seen the debate, which you cannot prove and I cannot disprove, but I think your own bias influences how you viewed the debate, as does mine.

I've read and listened to him. He provides accurate historical information about significant historic events and his research can be verified. His conclusions seem well founded. If you want the real causes of the conflict in Viet Nam, I'd go to him.

Because his research conflicts with the "official" description of important historical events, he has come under strong personal attacks. If anything, I believe that he is overly cautious about reporting facts and making conclusions. I'd look at his writings and try to verify them for yourself.

Many people have much more radical ideas about how the world economy is driven by drug trade, weapons trade, multinational corporations, financial organizations, and covert operations... but that's beyond the scope of your question.

He's a linguist by education, and is famous for being opinionated and kind of a jerk-know-it-all. Unless I am confusing my Chomskys.
