Is it legal to wear regular winter boots while I go snowboarding?

Because I ordered snowboarding boots and they haven't come in yet, and today is going to be a beautiful day.

They almost look like snowboarding boots, so im just wondering if I could get away with it.

The technical answer to your question is Yes you could. The question now is would you WANT to do that. Snowboard boots are designed to give your ankle the support you need to make sure it doesn't sprain or break. Regular snow boots do not have this support that is needed.

That being said. When I first snowboarded 13 years ago all my ski area had was these goolosh (spelling??) type boots that had absolutely no support and I survived. The snowboard boots I bought a year later didn't have much support in them either. The boots bought today give so much support then these early boots.

So the answer is yes you can... but be very cautious. Do not go ripping it through the half pipe or get up too much speed because chances are good that you could hurt your ankles and then not have a chance to try out the real boots when they come.

If you are unsure if you can even use them on the hill then call the mountain you are going to and ask to talk to Ski Patrol. They will let you know what the rules are.

No I tried it and ski patrol ran me down with a snow mobile.

Well I know you have already tried it. How did they fit? Tight?

My only concern would be if they slip, but if they stay in place I don't reallys see a problem with it. Just make sure they don't slip and give you proper support.

I have no authority but that's just coming from a snowboarder who has never tried that but is applying reason to the situation.

What I mean is that I sure as heck would try it if it was me.

well i dont think its illegal, but i dont think it would be smart to snowboard in regular winter boots. They probably wont fit your bindings that well and it cant be a safe thing to do.

I have never tried that before, but if they strap in okay and seem to work then you could give it a go. You might be able to get away with it, but I dont technically think it's legal.
