Everyone in history has two sets of grandparents. I guess I think this is just silly. It is not going to cause confusion. Children are smart until they get jaded by outside forces. I really just don't see what the issue is. But it sounds like your parents have an issue with your husband's parents.

My husband's parents divorced and each remarried when he was a child, so my son has three sets of grandparents and several great grandparents. We have "Mamaw & Papaw" (pronounced like 'mom' and 'pop'), "Nana & Pappaw" (pronounced like 'pap'), and Mamaw & Grandpa (mamaw this time is pronounced 'Mam'). It's amazing how NOT confused your child will be, really. My son randomly calls his grandmothers mommy and calls me mamaw, but it's quite clear who he's talking to at the time, so it's no big deal. Your child will only stress about it if you do.
Congratulations!

Our kids have a Grandma and Grandpa (On my husband's side) and a Nana and Papa (on my side)
You could always ask them what they would like to be called.
Good luck

My parents too!!!!! It made them feel too "old." (They're still in their forties) Anyway, we started with Poppy and Gigi (jee-jee), but they decided they didn't like that when my daughter was about 2 months old. Now it's grandma and grandpa, but my daughter can't pronounce them. NOW they like Papa and Nana. Personally I think Mammie and Poppy are cute, and VERY easy for a toddler to say. Good luck, guess it's hard getting old! LOL :-)

My mother and step-father will be called Nana and Papa, as my mother prefers not to be called grandma also. (by the way, I am also 21 weeks!)

My parents and in-laws didn't ask to be called anything special. We waited for my son to begin to talk to give them their own special names. He calls my in-laws Grandmom and Grandpop and my parents Gair (his first try at saying grandma, it sounds like care with a G) and Pop Pop.

i'm kinda in the same boat you're in. my mother-in-law has a new name for herself every time we see her as of right now its granny, before it was grams, who knows what it will be next. for grandpa my son can't say that so he calls them beka. but i've heard of nani and papa (thats what kids i watch call their grandparents) and my hubby calls his grandmas big grandma and little grandma and his grandpas name was pete so they called him pa pete.
