I'm going to be honest, this question really doesn't give enough information to let anyone help you.

What school year are you all in? If you're all 18, then the project would be radically more complicated than if you were 14-15.

When you say science, you need to be more specific, does it need to be a certain branch or science?
I mean you could probably knock something up physics-wise - a pendulum or something and do a lot of substantial maths work on it to get credit...predicting oscilating times etc.

Also, you don't have a very good friend if they continually dump projects on you.

She has left it too late I'm afraid to do anything good. Sorry.

Well, the volcano exploding helps.
Also, if you relate it to something you are good at
eg. If you are good at maths, you could find out how many micro-organisms would spead, untouched, over a period of time
(they double every 20 mins) say over 2 hours- 00:00 (midnight) 1 microbe
00:20-2 microbes
00:40-4
01:00-8
01:20-16
01:40-32
02:00-64 and so on
If you are good at woodwork/DT you could make some DNA out of foam for example

so relate it to something you are good at, and hope it goes well

I did this one year. Bake cakes and put different amounts of baking powder in them and watch what happens.
