You asked the question without really thinking about it first. Most all animals offspring need some form of care at first esp the primates like us. They suckle at their mothers milk or spend time with a herd to learn how to survive. Whales and dolphins take time to raise their young. Very few species, except fish, come out of the womb and are abandoned by their parents.

Why is it I get the feeling that most people at this site get pleasure by ridiculing the human race? I'm not saying you, personally, are doing that, but it does seem many people do.

Nope. Kangaroos babies would not survive immediately after birth. Kittens and puppies would not survive...lots of animals would not survive if they weren't taken care of my their mums or someone else.

most animals have to take care of their babies for a time after birth. even alligators care for their babies at first. humans care for their offspring longer than most animals, but we also live longer than most and mature slower.
