Lately my DVD-RAM drive that does dual layer dvds and the rest has had its name changed and now in windows media player when I try to write music it says please attach and burner and restart the player. It is attached and Ive tried in device manager by removing it and then it finding it again. I did fix it by going back to a really old registry but half of my programs didnt work so I had to go back to a new one so how can I make it know its a DVD-RAM drive again?
Is it in the registry somewhere?

Three thing maybe....

1 - your computer may not see it as it should, try getting the drivers or new Firmware form the makers website. then shut down your computer, unplug the Drive and restart the computer, check to see if the drive has gone. then shut down and plug the drive back in, then reinstall it.

2 - the connection to the drive may be different to what is should be, check or change the location of the drive. This might just be your computer action up.

3 - the drive may have gone, the lazer may have given up and the computer is only seeing a CD or DVD dive not a writer.
