See if the Windows FAX feature is installed:

Start->Programs->Accessories->Communication
Is the FAX folder there? Yes -> you can already FAX

No -> add the FAX component

Start->Set Program Access and Defaults

Choose Add or Remove Windows Components
Check FAX Services if it is not checked already. You may need the Windows install disk to complete the install.

Start->Settings->Printers and Faxes and install the FAX printer.

Make sure a telephone line is hooked to your modem -- then start FAXing!

If it has a modem port (a hole that looks like you can plug in a telephone line), then you can send and receive faxes.

Don't confuse a modem port with an ethernet port, though. They look similar, but an ethernet port (for networking) is bigger/wider. It will have eight metal contacts showing. The modem port (for a phone line), is narrower and will have 2 to 4 metal contacts showing.
