First, let me start by saying that I am a member of a minority group. I won't say which one so that it won't cloud the issue. Also I feel I should disclose that I am not homosexual, but have a few friends that are.

Although it's not universal by any means, there seems to be a predisposition in the black community towards dislike/hate of and/or discriminatory practices towards people who are gay. Many of these same people have themselves been the victims of unwarranted acts of hate and discrimination. My thought is "Are you kidding me? How can you experience racism and discrimination, realize how awful and unfair it is, and then go and inflict the same kind of distress on someone else?"

Is it just me or is this ridiculous? In my mind, this is the essence of hypocrisy. Is there something I'm missing here?

The guy above me is wrong. Minorities can easily be racist and hold a position of power.
Just look at the Whites in South Africa. Their racism from fuelled primarily because, really, they felt threatened. Virtually all prejudice comes from the DESIRE to feel superior, which stems from the very common human feeling of some other kind of inadequacy.
It's the same thing here with Blacks persecuting Gays. This way they can feel that, even though they're Black, at least they're straight. It's just human nature.

No you just want an honest answer. I am black, yes I do believe many people, not only African American, but in general are Hypocrites. This is not often by choice but by Religious upbrings, Church document, Ignorance, lack of understanding regarding "Gayness" or same sex relationships.

The problem lies in fear "will I be___?" That is the "What factor. Then there is the "When factor," And the How factor," "If i believe or accept guys _____?." The homosexuality subject is complex and not enough space to discuss on here. It is a matter of culture, experiences, religion and and education that determines our Hypocrites Racism and Discrimination.

Many people are molested in early childhood therefore (forced into the only sex they know. Others are bombarded in the Uterus with female hormones that influence their sexual orientation. Then there is the X theory: How Why and when did one do to become same sex oriented. Search on it and see what is said. Is being a Hypocrites beyond our understand or Control?

Religion aside (because I am not religious) I think that African American people who discriminate against homosexuals ARE hypocritical. I believe that the color of your skin and your sexuality are not a choice, but a matter of biology. The only choice you have in either matter are to be a part of the African American culture or to act on your attraction to a person of the same sex.

I've wondered this about different people on here too. I've seen one person defend homosexuality and go on to make racist remarks. There was another person who defended black people, but said that all fat people should be killed! I think you are right - I'm also a member of a minority group and have experienced prejudice. I think it's incredible that someone can suffer and be so blind to suffering in others.

I think racism and disagreeing with a sexual practice are two totally different things. I mean of course homosexuals are equal human beings, and if anyone says otherwise they are hypocrites, but that doesn't mean African American's should support homosexuals sexual practices.

Well I'm not saying it's right to hate on homosexuals. But I believe that it's wrong for people to be gay or bi or lesbian. So other people have the same opinion. I think racism is wrong. I don't thnk African Americans are hypocrites because of that.

People, and not just Black people, don't understand that any hatred is bad. But try as you might to make this a Black problem it is a problem for all kinds of people. Most Black people are not against other Black people, in any case. And most "hateful" Black people have had negative incidents with other people. Not an excuse for hatefulness but I am saying that most Black people don't generally raise their children not to be around, work with, intermarry, other groups of people..many OTHER groups of people DO raise their children to be this way.
