You are having Braxton Hicks contractions - very frustrating, you need to relax, you seem like you are tensing up over it - that baby will come when it is ready, the more tense you are, the more painful it will be when you go into labour properly.
I would sit cross legged or sole to sole to 'open yourself up' for the next few days. Do something where you can stand up and dance, lean your arms from elbow to hand on a work surface, straight back, bum stuck out head down, this is a good way to relax and will help the baby into the correct position - spine outwards.
Choose your CD's to be in labour to, choose a book to take to the hospital, keep a diary for the baby when they grow up of these precious days, above all try your best to relax, it's much easier and quicker that way - believe me! I had two nightmare pregnancy's and two very quick births.
During the earlier stages of labour I played cards with my husband, we found out later that I had won and he blamed my contractions for putting him off!! Have a laugh, endorphins are great.
Good Luck

I had a doctor appointment for the OBGYN and while at the appointment my doctor told me you are not going any where, just take a walk over to the hospital and check in. I was already dilated 2 centimeters, I gave birth to my daughter 31/2 hours later.
I just let nature take it's course I didn't do any thing special to make it happen. I knew that when my baby was ready it would be ready and come. And she did just that too, stop worrying about getting your baby into this world. It will come soon enough and then you will be one busy woman, with very little time on your hands. Once you have your baby you will be a mother and you will never stop being a mother, it is a 7-24 hour job. You will be responsible for another human being's life and it will be the hardest job you will ever have. But it will also be the most rewarding job as well.
Take care of your self and stop worrying as it isn't good for you baby. Remember that every thing that you feel/stress and what not your baby feels it too. It's not healthy for you or the baby.
Good Luck!

I'm not a mommy but I have heard that sex moves things along. The critical question is...are you having an orgasm? It's the orgasmic contractions that are supposed to get things going. It is a hypothetical question, of course, I don't need an answer...just make sure that is the goal, not the acrobatics or the exertion or the position.
If you are not getting results, who knows? Maybe your due date is off. Babies usually are not on the parent's schedule...but that doesn't mean they aren't right on time.
If it is absolutely that big of a deal, have your doc induce you...but only after you know that the baby is properly developed. You don't want a half-cooked bun coming out of the oven.

It may work for some. Personally I've been trying sex, walking, spicy foods, raspberry tea, pineapple, etc. for weeks. And I'm so far 6 days late.
I finally accept that, in order for any of these things to work, the baby has to be "ready."

the night before i had a chilli con carne meal and a hot bath with radox sage bubble bath (it's the blue one) supposed to relax the muscles. oh yeah lots of sex. i was supposed to be induced but luckily she popped out the day before. i had contractions for 2 days but after doing all these things i seemed to get things started, but maybe it was a coincedence. Good luck and congratulations!

Sex isn't guaranteed to start labour - neither is walking (or taking hot curry) they can all assist in commencing labour, but are you due to labour now - are at your 40 wks/ or due date ? have you spoken to your midwife ? what is the frequency of the contractions ? if you're worried, call your maternity and speak to a midwife. They'll give you the correct advice for your circumstances.

unless your baby is ready - nothing will 'make labor start'..
is this your first kid? Otherwise you're like me and have 7 years between birth? or you're just CRAZY! Let your baby stay in as long as it wants- as the mother of a 6 year old and a 2 week old- let them stay in- unless you're looking forward to days of NO sleep!

Well first 2 times I had real labor with in minutes, 3rd time, absolutely no luck. I walked and walked and had sex, and walked, and climbed stairs, and did everything possible and it didn't happen, if the baby is not ready, he/she's not going to come. Be patient, I had mine on his due date with my last one.
