depends if you mean john williams the classical guitarist or john williams the film composer. the classical guitarist had a big hit with cavatina ( used as the theme for " the deer hunter ") whereas the film composer had hits with movie themes from superman, star wars, jaws, et and others. the classical guitarist also had hit with the classical rock crossover group sky, notably bachs toccata and fugue.

Apart from "Cavitina"the deer hunter theme,he was also in a instrumental group called Sky,they did a song called "Toccata".
