A basic tenet of a civilised society is that we pay only for what we use. Road pricing means that if you use roads you pay - if you don't then you don't! Seems fair enough to me!
Let me add two furher suggestions: (1) Get on your bikes (2) Try trains and buses...

This government is extremely good at the 'Divide and Conquer' principle. Although we have taxes that we all pay, they bring in other 'stealth' taxes that only affect a few people at a time. This means that there is never enough interest raised when people shout about the latest 'tax' to affect them.
When the majority shouts, then we will say 'No More' but the chances of this happening are not great. Especially when it is now probably illegal to even make arrangements to protest. Some obscure 'terrorist' law will probably come into effect!
Even road use charges will not affect you in the way you think. It will be bought in in Cities (Congestion charge is a road use charge), then in towns and then before you know it, you will be spending six hours a week on the computer trying to find a way to work that will avoid a 'charged road'. Then we will all travel an extra seventy miles a week and damage the environment even more.
I give in!

To paddy B - Don't we already pay enough? Road Tax, VAT on parts, Tax on Petrol the list goes on, yet there's NEVER any improvements to either the road systems or public transport! All the government ever do is create more congestion then charge us for it! I mean all the width restrictions, speed humps, closing roads and forcing everyone onto main roads, rephasing traffic lights, 24 hour bus lanes when they aren't needed all day.
No we already pay a ridiculous amount, then they want us to pay out £600 to fit a box to our cars so we can pay even more, No Thanks.
As for using public transport - you must have a death wish, and way more time than me! A 61 year old charity worker was attacked by a bunch of youths on a train, at a station near me, and left unconsious on the platform. His crime - he happened to catch the eye of one of these youths. I'd rather live than use most public transport. Other problems are it smells, people are obnoxious and ignorant, and they're unreliable.

Imho, no. no individual who earns $30k or much less consistent with 3 hundred and sixty 5 days could pay any tax. For income above that, income and different taxes could be modern, maxing at ninety% on income, capital features, assets, intake and the rest shall we predict of of for everybody earning over $250k consistent with 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. As substantial is what the taxes are spent on. i'm beneficial there would be logistical problems with each and every citizen balloting on the place his or her tax funds is going, yet i think of it incredibly is an theory nicely worth exploring. I hear allot from people who do no longer prefer their taxes going for abortions, social protection or welfare. i do no longer recommendations procuring any of that, yet I merchandise to my taxes going for Wall st. bailouts, the protection tension or company subsidies.

Governor Rendell from Pennsylvania wants to raise the state sales tax to 7% from 6%. It has been at 6% for 39 years. Why raise it? It's based on percentage anyhow. He promised not to raise taxes when he got reelected. He raised a few different taxes the first few days.

When we emigrate to Australia. Seriously, they want people from the uk! Everything is so much cheaper and laid back, tons of work out there, sod this government they've sent our country down the swannie, at least out there you get a quality of life and not the government sitting there reaping your hard earned cash as much.
If they are sooo bothered about congestion, why the hell don't they give people a reliable, viable alternative? People don't have any other way of getting to work other than by car, especially if they have to drive as part of their jobs, public transport is dangerous and unreliable. Buses aren't maintained and trains are as bad, then you've got the idiots that are on there, you know the ones, with their i-pods blasting crap music out, sitting there intimidating people, its horrible.
If they try and stick a tracker on our cars, they'll get a shock, we'll get the oxycetalene out and burn the barstard off! I think its breach of privacy, got to be some sort of human rights issue, its big brother just as george orwell predicted....

We can't. The Government screws every single one of us in America, Land of the Taxes. Actually, the rich are getting taxed less whilst the blue collar and middle classes carry out the most weight of taxes. In my opinion, it's severely messed up when it comes to Taxes.

I have been saying "no more" every time I vote. I remind representatives that, if they vote to raise taxes, I will vote against them. Usually, my warnings are ignored. I always vote against anyone who wants to raise taxes for anything.
