Transplant Cherry Tree?

We live in the southern part of Virginia and want to know when is the best time to transplant a cherry tree. We've always heard March and October.

march is to late the sap is comming up right now and if you dig up the tree it will start to bleed or you will shock it either one will kill the tree best time is the fall in october i work in a nursery in tennessee for 20 years now hope i have helped you
