Why is it that the moving stairs that take you both UP & DOWN are called ESCALLATORS? (sorry for bad spelling)
Surely escalate means go up! so how can it be used for the down version too?
I like the names UP-ALATORS & DOWN-ALATORS!
do you reckom it will catch on?

More appropriate. When we stayed at the Luxor (the hotel shaped like a pyramid) in Las Vegas we had to use a lift called an inclinator. It went up and down diagonally. It was a really wierd sensation.
