Yes, tea can help soothe your throat but it should be herbal. Go and pick yourself up some Throat Coat, you can find it at most stores either pharmacy or grocery. Buy some slippery elm throat lozenges...you'll usually find them in the natural or organic sections in your supermarket...if you use any lozenge that has menthol it is drying and creates more pain. Drink a lot of water, I know it hurts but it'll help flush things out of your system faster. Place a warm wash cloth over your throat and if you have a humidifier use it, it helps keep the air in your house moist rather than dry. Hope you feel better soon.

Believe it or not a shot of whiskey is about the best thing you can do. I don't drink but if I get a bad throat infection it will have it cleared up in no time. Don't drink anything else after it. It may be hard but the alcohol will kill the infecton. Promise! Crown royal is the best to use because it is smooth.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

I imagine you've already seen a doctor, right? Try gargling with warm salt water, or an aspirin dissolved in warm water. You could also try Cepricol(?)spray, or lozenges. See if the doctor can give you something if nothing else helps.

Gargle with listerine or a similar mouthwash.. or if you don't have any mouthwash gargle water with lemon juice in it...it seriously knocks the germs for a six and makes your throat feel much better.

My mum used to do this to me when I was little. Get a glass of warm water (as warm as you can tolerate), put a little lemon juice in and stir in a teaspoon of honey and sip.
