I'm not sure if you have to be 18+, but if not, do Camp America where you go look after the kids for the summer. You get paid, too.
They pay for your flights and you'll meet a whole lot of new people.

I am not going away on holidays this summer... not been anywhere for years!
If I get bored, I just go and find something to do like run a race to raise money for charity. Always good fun also you get to get into the spirit of things with strangers and friends. Doing 'The Santa Run' last winter in Edinburgh was a good laugh... hilarious to see everyone wear santa outfits and getting in the spirit of the whole event. Gave me a buzz!
I am considering joining the Great Scottish Walk this year... I will have to hurry and get applying for the forms soon.
Have a fun Summer.

how about going to your local tourist board and see if they have any jobs coming of in and around local historical places, like a castle they sometimes have role plays were you act out situations that happened many years ago, this can be fun and you get to meet loads of tourists, and you get evenings of, or how about being a tour guide. or volunteering to work with youth groups, they often need volunteers for excursions, or if you are artistic you could start making things and sell them at markets and tourist information centres, hope these few ideas help, gl and have a good summer
