I have noticed it in otheres and sometimes experienced it myself too. Perhaps u too must have felt this.
for example we call out someone to tell something to them , but when they turn and look at us , we just forget what we had come to say. It wud be like we had lost all memory without any trace of what we had come to say. Do u know y this happens?

Why indeed! Everyone does it and the only explanation I have is that the brain has a stress "shut off" valve if the mind and body become overloaded. Sometimes the "shut off" valve shuts out good information instead of the bad.

My unscientific explanation is that it is stress and sometimes malnutrition or hunger. There are chemicals constantly running through out bodies and deficiencies of vitamins and minerals and especially water do amazing things for our memories...a lack of them can cause the mind to go nearly insane with lack of memory.

Even relatively minor cases of it is sometimes a call from the body for some nutrition or rest...the mind is a truly funny thing...how sometimes we forget the most basic of facts like our mother's name and at another time remember information that most people have long forgotten...old telephone numbers, and old friends driver's license number, vocabulary words in foreign languages and what not.

Don't you HATE it when you raise your hand to ask a very important question and when you are called on...YOU FORGOT THE QUESTION!!??? WHO WHAT WHY WHEN WHERE....dang!!! What the heck? Maybe I just need a drink of water!

I'm constantly amazed by both what my mind forgets and what my mind remembers!!! GO FIGURE!!!

There are many reasons but in general this occurs to most people.

Your memory can be divided into two categories

1. Longterm memory

2. Shortterm memory

Longterm memory store things that you can remember vividly: either good or bad. These memories are characterized to be of very happy events, traumatic events, humourous events or repetitious events (think of events in your childhood)

Shortterm memory stores things as they occur. Because they dont possess any of the characteristics as the longterm memory they are forgotten easily

There are several ways to improve your memory 2 of them are

1. Omega-3 stimulates neurons and synapses in the brain making learning and memory easier and more longterm. (fish like mackeral and sardines and shellfish have highest concentrates of Omega-3 or you can get it in a capsule)

2. Vividly think about what it is you want to remember (i.e. picture yourself drowning in milk ... milk in your hair, eyes, ears, nose ... the trauma will help you remember when you get to the shop that you need to get some milk)
