This is a great story which should be made into a film,
Michael Winner is getting fidgety, in case Richard Attenborough, gets in with his offer first. You're heading for the big time with that story, Silkie.

It is a very powerful and erotic tale of intrigue. I think that Reggie's character is somehow haunted by spectres of his dark past and secrets better forgotten.
As for Sidney who could fail to see that he is a powerful mollusc who yearns for control and dominion because of a sense of helplessness in an ever changing world. The term "hard cases" demonstrates this tough yet melancholic streak of thought in Sidney's mind.
A great story with a wonderful hidden meaning.

Shades of the Kray brothers, or perhaps Doug, and Dinsdale Pirhana.
I like it, it shows promise.
Suspense, Action, Gastropods. A winning combination.
If you do go for a movie deal, try and get Ridley Scott...

My 10 year old daughter laughed herself silly. Very Milligan. If you could carry on this theme, it could be genuinely funny for kids. I like the way the snails have an amazing turn of pace. Keep it up. Also the posting on the salt gun was funny/

Forget the snail and slugs and use a pair of Cray fish- there's still something a bit fishy about them and they can get you in a pincer movement.
