Oils are more viscous, lotions are thinner.
So, what is the idea of rubbing someone's back?
If it is to give him some relief from pain , or enhance pleasure, won't it be good to prolong it? Use Oil!
--The lotion will disappear quicker.

Either will work, but if you use lotion it needs to be one that won't absorb quickly. Your best choice is purchasing a "massage" lotion or oil. They can be found at many department and even grocery stores in the cosmetic/personal care area.

Good Luck, and tell the recipient to enjoy!

i use massage oil so it can't absorb in too quickly, but there are some oils that leave a greasy residue no matter how long you've been massaging... i'd go with a little bit more expensive massage oil that promises no residue.. just for the sake of my own hands.

Lotion, the scented kind from the Body Shop. Subtle scents, nothing really fruity or overpowering.

oils is best, as it doesn't soak into the skin as quickly. you also get a better glide over the body, and you dont get friction. the best oil i have found is soybean, and almond oils. you can buy pre- made massage oil, or just buy almond oil, and add your own essential oil. just made sure that u dont use essential oil on its own as it will burn the skin, and put a real dampener on ur massage session

Plain old vegetable oil.

Inexpensive, and does not "pill up" like some lotions do.

Warm it in the microwave. Make sure it's not too hot ;-))
