Drag yourself no need , Here´s what you do pick a room to clean first ,lets say your bed room.Okay set your alarm clock to go off in 15 min´s see how much you can do in this time. Ready ,go all clean clothes to the closet hang them up on hanger´s belts hats jumper´s folded put on shelves shoes in there right homes, STOP, have a rest if you think you would rather carry on set the clock again & continue,Remember always leave the dirty washing next to the door don´t waste time running to the laundry basket , or other things in your room that don´t belong you can deliver them to there rightful homes when you have finished your room. so doing the work this way will be easier for you and less of a chore rather than as you say drag Come back later and tell us how you did , Come on set the clock

I put music on really loud and sing at the top of my lungs while I clean. And I remind myself how much better I feel when things are neater. I can relax and don't feel anxious. So there is a reward involved for doing the work. Having a clean house makes a big difference in how I feel.

It's hard sometimes, but you just have to do it! At some point it's got to bother you enough to clean it up... and after you have, just take the couple extra minutes to put your clothes in the laundry bin, wash your dishes after dinner, etc. and it's alot easier than trying to do it all at once when it gets really bad.

I have been struggling with that lately too. I don't have to do anything I don't want to do but it really affects my mood, and I try to remember that I deserve to live in a clean house.

Sometimes that isn't even enough to get motivated though. When I get to feeling overwhelmed, I just break down tasks in my mind, until I can bring myself to do one tiny thing. I encourage myself or chew a little depending on the situation:

"You don't have to want to, just do it. It won't get any easier."
"Just do this one thing. That's all. It doesn't even have to be perfect."

It is empowering to change the things we can...and make our lives a little better.

Usually just knowing that I faced one task is enough to get me started on something else, or to get me up sooner next time, or to at least do my best on that one tiny thing.

I'm glad someone else admits to this problem. I lost my mom in Dec, she was my roommate due to an illness. She has been gone since Aug (in the hospital) and I just can't bring myself to enjoy this place alone...that plus dealing with her belongings, and setting the place up to be more my style, is an overwhelming task at times.

you have to have the UMPH to get something done.... Do you want your family and friends coming over to see a messy place? do you want to take the chance of bugs showing up unexpectedly? do you want to be the one everyone wants to avoid their house because it smells bad..... Just get up and do it!
