I order for us to believe in something it has, somehow, to make sense, but truth never makes sense; because truth is always way beyond reason. So whenever you find something to believe in and incorporate it, or it becomes part of your mind, then it cannot be truth.
It's like when you're in love; you feel it, but you cannot explain it. Something like that happens with truth; you feel it, but it always goes over your head, and if you try, then you'll always come short of it, or at least that's what it would seem to you, that words are not good enough in such cases.

It speakes to the difference between knowing something because you have proof or have logically thought through it and found it to withstand logical scrutiny, or believing something just because you have been told that it is true.
This is often the care with religous doctrine or patriotic ideas that makes no sense when they are looked at logically. We are often told that we must have faith or we are not a true believer or a real patriot.
These thing that can not withstand logical scrutiny are often simple lies that we are being told are true.
Weapons of mass destruction, or God loves you unconditionally but if you are not good he will dangle you over a lake of fire, are good examples.

Because truth only exists in the spiritual sense. There are no true straight lines but the world is built with a ruler. Perceptions are generalized and attached, used and accepted.
