These are some of the world's greatest athletes. Only a few hundred people in the entire world have enough talent to do what they are doing. Can you think of career field that is more difficult to get into? The demand for winning teams is high, so the demand for talented players is high. So no, I do not think they are embarrassed and nor should they be. Plus, look at the good many of these athletes do off the field. They donate large portions of their earnings to charities. They volunteer their time to help good causes. Many of them are ambassadors of good will. Plus, you are complaing because the players are millionaires. How much do you think their bosses make???

No why should they?
Their wages are determined by supply and demand.
There is a huge demand for football as can be seen by the amount of money paid by television companies for the rights to show it.
There is also a very restricted supply of top quality footballers who can play at this higher level.
Economic theory shows us that when there is a large demand and a small supply then prices (wages in this case) will be very high.

Yeah, you get more honest and professional players in the lower leagues.
After getting big wages most players lose there love for the game and it's replaced with a love for themselfs.

How can you get embarrased if you have no scruples?
I always thought that being a professional meant that you had integrity. In football it means cheat as much as you can- they'd sell out their own mothers to win a game. They couldn't sell out their fathers as I doubt most of them don't know who he is!
