A client ask you for help in a financial merger situation. You decline because the matter is outside your expertise and refer the company to a fellow practitioner who is knowledgeable in financial affairs. The fellow practitioner is so appreciative he sends you a check for$500.

no u r not liable 4 informing the original client. that's illinois law though, I don't know what the situation might be somewhere else.

I wouldn't think so,you did the right thing by sending them to the right people.But if you feel bad about the money you can share it with us. Ha
