Almost all the species who eat carrion (including humans) eat their own species, as all they see is the rotting flesh and need for energy. When a free meal is offered, why go and hunt. Moreover, it is the nature's self cleansing mechanism to dispose the dead.

not even in situations of extreme stress but normally
chickens will eat dead chickens
pigs will eat dead pigs
dogs will eat dead dogs (once a long time ago in times of exstreme hunger i fed half a dead dog to my dog ,the half i did not eat)
crows will eat dead crows
crocodiles will eat live crocodiles that are smaller
(my meter long crocodile just ate two of the one foot babies)
female praying Mantis eat the males .after sex
rats will eat rats that are smaller if they are locked in and run out of food
many other rodents will do the same
some snakes will eat their own species if they get the chance
male bears ,lions ,hyenas ,dogs are known to eat their young when pressed for food or if they are ill.
and carion eaters eat all dead animals including their own

and man has been know and still do in remote places eat other man
the central Americans did for symbolic reasons to gain the dead warriors powers
but in central Africa it is just for the food value
as it was in Lesotho (in south Africa)only 150 years ago
Hannibal lector was not so unique
i am sure there is lots more in the animal kingdom
and in the insect world it is common
and in the waters almost all fish eat other fish
